William "Billy" Mayer

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

William J. Mayer, or just Billy as many knew him, was born on April 7, 1968, in the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was a steadfast presence in his community, embodying the spirit of resilience, love and humanity. Billy's thoughtful and spirited nature shone brightly in all he did in life. At his best he could be a beacon of joy and humor, a shoulder to cry on, or whatever a person in need could hope for. His passion for life and the arts was unmatched, but he was also an absolutely ragged fighter who defied the odds, living longer than anyone expected.

Billy was a loving soul who dedicated himself to his friends, family, and recovery. His involvement in the Annual Beach Bash, Miss Sobriety, events and various recovery groups showcased his commitment to supporting others on their journey. As his drag persona, Gloria Hole, Billy brought joy to countless hearts. His charitable performances highlighted his generous spirit and belief in living life to its fullest. His legacy of love and laughter will not soon be forgotten.

Billy is survived by his brothers, James Mayer and Chris Mayer, his sister, Michele Marra, as well as their families, including nieces (Maranda, Reanna, Lena), nephews (Andrew, CJ, Calvin, Sammy) and great-nephews who carry forward his legacy. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, William and Rose Mayer.

Relatives and friends may greet his family on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9:00 am - 9:45 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 am at St. Mark's Church, Frankford located at 4442 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124.
