Sondra Rosenberg

–

Philadelphia, PA

Sondra (Sandy) Ruth Rosenberg (nee Goldberg), 89 years old, of Philadelphia via Corona Queens, NYC passed away on the morning of February 27, 2023.

Sondra was born on February 5th, 1934, to Clara (nee Pesach) and Samuel Goldberg in Flushing New York City and lived in Corona Queens NYC until 1948 when their family moved to West Philadelphia. Sondra also lived for decades in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

Sandy attended Overbrook High School in West Philly where she was an active member of the Overbrook Choir. Soon after graduation in 1951 Sandy pursued her professional singing career at the Latin Casino where she once opened for the infamous "Rat Pack"!! As a professional singer she met a handsome serviceman in uniform, Sidney Rosenberg. They went on to get married in 1955 and have three sons Marc, Lee and Neal. While she was married, she was also very involved in her Temple Choir in Rhawnhurst.

When the boys were teenagers, Sandy decided to strike out on her own and became a successful business owner of a NutriSystem Weight Loss Center until the company closed all locations. This provided time for Sandy to travel all over Europe with family and friends. Especially dear to her heart was traveling the great USA with her best friend, her mother Clara. Sandy pursued additional professions such as a nail technician and sales. Salesmanship was in her blood. She worked for many years at Gordon's Furniture in Lumberton, NJ under the alias "Sandy Beach" (her alias was a fun ice breaker and conversation starter!) until that business also unfortunately closed. She then took her sales prowess and went back to the weight loss industry operating the Cookie Diet kiosk in the Cherry Hill Mall.

Sandy loved finding treasure from other people's "trash". Going antiquing and to yard sales was quite the fun past time. She was very knowledgeable about art, antique glassware and jewelry. Sandy's creative pallet extended to enjoying cuisines from all over the world especially when her dinner choice was served in a pineapple!

Sondra lived a full life on her own terms. She was a very loving, giving person who never held a grudge and loved her family very much. She took care of her mother and brother in their time of need without hesitation and open arms.

Sondra is survived by her three sons Marc, Lee and his wife Lorraine, Neal and his wife Cynthia. She was loved by her sister Helen Grosky (nee Goldberg) and brother-in-law Bernie Grosky; nephews Alan Goldberg, Douglas Goldberg, Jeffrey Grosky and partner Bear; nieces Amy Bergman (nee Grosky) and husband Michael Bergman and children Sam and Zachary, and Diane Grosky. Also survived by grandchildren from Marc, Christopher, Nolan and Maya Rosenberg; from Lee, Sarah with fiance Jake Galli and Kyle Rosenberg; and from Neal, Leigh Laws-Lynch, Allison Laws, Andrew Noel and Sophia Rosenberg. Sandy was predeceased by parents Clara and Samuel Goldberg and brother Norman Goldberg.

She was very much loved and will be greatly missed.
