Janet L. White

Janet Lee White (nee Bartlett), age 71, went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2019. Janet was born on October 21, 1948 in Grafton, WV to Ellis 'Fred' and Hazel Bartlett who preceded her in eternal life. She was the beloved wife of Howard N. White for over 46 years. Janet was the loving mother of Steven (Janet E), Cindy (Ron) Wiltshire, and Douglas (Dawn), and grandchildren Katie, Bradley, and Abby. Beloved sister of Fred (Janice), and Robert (Kathy), and aunt to Bill (Melissa) Bartlett, Becky (Brian) Richard, and Ben (Mandy) Bartlett, and their children.
Along with her biological family, Janet was deeply loved by so many throughout her years as she was deeply dedicated to teaching others to trust in the Lord through teaching Sunday School and various other church programs. Even through her cancer diagnosis and death, her witness of the Gospel never ceased. Outside of her personal exclamation of the Gospel, she served to spread the Gospel to others. She was an active member of the Lawndale Baptist Church, sang in the church choir, served through the years as a Teen Week director, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and assisted with other various ministries as a volunteer, both with First Primitive Methodist Church, Geiger Memorial Brethren Church, and Lawndale Baptist Church. She also served with various other missionary organizations focused in the Philadelphia area.
Her love for people extended beyond just her ministry activities. She was an avid cake decorator, was a hairdresser, and loved sewing outfits for her family (and their dolls too!). Janet was a living example of a faith that works.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing at Lawndale Baptist Church, 6433 Lawndale Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111 on Sunday, December 8 from 6-8pm, with a viewing on Monday, December 9 from 9-10am, with service at 10am, and internment to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Abington, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lawndale Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
