Quakake, PA

George W. Nesbitt, passed away on September 20, 2020. He was the last surviving child of William and Gertrude Nesbitt's eleven children, Husband of the late Mary (nee McElroy)and father to the late Lisa Nesbitt, he is survived by his only son, George Nesbitt Jr (Lynn), 3 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom love and respect him. He lived on the same street in Philadelphia most of his adult life in a home he purchased for his parents in the 1940's. He made numerous friends over the years and made everyone he met feel like a fiend. He recently moved to Quakake, PA to live with his son and family and where he spent the last year of his life. He was a member of Calvary Memorial Church in Philadelphia where he was well respected and will be missed by many. As a WWII Marine Corp Veteran he served in Asiatic Pacific Area, Southern Palau Islands, Leyte, and Iwo Jima, as an electrician, embarking on career that would sustain him for the rest of his life. He was an electrician by trade, working at the same company for over 30 years, retiring in 1988 to spend time with his wife and daughter. A devout Christian, he prayed often, committed himself to Jesus Christ, and carried his holy card with him at all times. He had a great sense of humor and was known to play a trick or two at times. His favorite past time was going out to eat where at his favorite restaurant he was known as "Uncle George". Once he was allowed, he continued going out to eat as often as he could, despite his recent cancer diagnosis and the dreaded Covid 19, until just weeks before he passed. He fought a vigilant fight succumbing to his illness and now he is with the Lord, his beloved wife and daughter, where he will be able to look upon those whom he loves and take care them from above as he did for so many while he lived. With our loss, Heaven has gained an Angel! Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:00 am at Calvary Memorial Church 7200 Roosevelt Blvd. Philadelphia, PA 19149. His memorial service will follow Thursday at 11:00 am. Following the church services he will be laid to rest with his wife with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
