David C. Kensil

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

David Charles Kensil, a man of profound intelligence, unwavering thoughtfulness, and humble nature, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 5, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, David resided there for his entire life, contributing significantly to his community and creating an indelible legacy.

David was an astute banker by profession, serving his community with integrity and humility. His hard work, dedication, and smart business acumen not only drove his success but also earned him the respect of his peers. However, it was outside his professional life where David's heart truly shone. A man of many hobbies, he could often be found absorbed in a complex puzzle, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, or indulging in his love of history, especially WW2, Civil War, and the Revolutionary War. His passion for trains was noteworthy, reflecting his thoughtful nature and his fascination with the intricate workings of the world. David was a devoted fan of college football, spending many an afternoon engrossed in the day’s games.

Yet, at the core of David's life was his faith and his family. He cherished his late wife, Alice, to whom he was married for many beautiful years. Their love story was one of warmth, understanding, and mutual respect. Their bond was so strong that David joined Alice just 20 days after her passing, a testament to their inseparable connection. He was a loving father to his children, David A. Kensil, Susan Ludwig and Bruce Kensil (Deborah). He leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren, Christopher Ludwig (Sierra Sweeney), Joseph Adams, Rachael Carmona (Michael), and Joshua Kensil, and his great-grandchildren - Jase, Skylee, Luciano, Valentina, James, Lamiyah and Liam. David was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara Kensil.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Lambie Funeral Home 8000 Rowland Avenue (At Rhawn Street). His Homegoing service will follow at 11:00 am. David will be laid to rest in Whitemarsh Memorial Park with his beloved wife Alice.

David’s life was a testament to his smart, thoughtful, and humble nature. His legacy continues to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
