Zbigniew Pawlowski Obituary (1938 - 2023) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

With great sadness, we note the passing of Zbigniew Jan Pawlowski, husband of the late Kateryna Pawlowski, on January 6, 2023. Zbigniew was born in Gdynia, Poland, on August 30, 1938, just before the invasion of Poland by the Nazis in 1939. Some of his earliest memories were of a war-torn Poland. He survived the war and worked on commercial ships, traveling worldwide, visiting exotic places, and learning his trade as a ship's chef. Eventually, Zbigniew settled in the United States, working as a Chef at Moshulu in Philadelphia for a time before settling into a long-term position at Nazareth Hospital as part of their facilities staff. In 1992, Zbigniew married his wife, Kateryna, and they lived on Fillmore Street in Jenkintown, PA, until she died on October 10, 2020. Zbigniew, or "Ziggy" as he was known to his associates and friends, was a warm and pleasant man with a ready smile and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a simple man who loved good home cooking and sweets of every description. He was quick to lend anyone a helping hand, using a lifetime of acquired skills and knowledge to solve the problems of others and expecting nothing in return. He loved to read, watch television and tell stories about his experiences in different countries and his life as a young sailor. Later in life, Zbigniew found a family of supportive and loving friends who cared for him, treasured the time they shared and will miss him deeply.
